HINDU SERVICES

Hindu Services

The burial practices of a culture offer deep insights into the beliefs and customs of those who continue on. In Hinduism, as in many other religions, specific rituals and traditions are followed to honor the deceased and support grieving families. At our funeral home, Hindu-American services may incorporate some elements similar to Judeo-Christian traditions, yet many important customs from India remain intact. With this in mind, we provide a serene space and thoughtful guidance to help families carry out these traditions, from the funeral service to the final cremation.

Hindu philosophy, along with the belief in reincarnation, provides comfort to those who are grieving. The idea that the soul is eternal offers solace, as mourners are reminded that the soul does not perish but simply departs from the body and continues on. Many grieving families and friends find peace by reading verses from the Bhagavad Gita, a sacred Hindu text. For some Indian-Americans, returning to India to scatter the ashes, seek blessings for the departed, or find personal healing is an important part of the grieving process.
