Jon Hilary Stefenson left us on October 31, 2024. A big celebrator of holidays, his passing on Halloween was only fitting, especially given his lively inner child, non-hesitancy for costume-wearing, and love of sweets.
He was born in Connecticut in 1957, and spent almost his entire life in Westport, both growing up and raising his own family in town. While he may have made his home here, he traveled all over the world, both for pleasure and professionally as a coffee trader. Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Kenya, Indonesia, China, Vietnam, and many, many more hosted Jon as he progressed in his career. In a job based around strong relationships, his decades of success reflect not only his business acumen, but his own personal warmth. He particularly charmed a coworker, Susan who traveled with him to London where they resided before returning to the states for marriage.
An extremely active professional life also extended into his personal one. Jon grew up in a large family with brothers Michael, Mark, Dana, and Jeff, and sister Hope. Two on two, touchdowns, strikeouts, slaloms, headers, holes in ones, and much more in the world of sport were passions from his first steps all the way through his last months (in which he was the star participant in a rambunctious and extensive family mini golf tournament held in the family home).
Jon passed away in the comfort of his home and surrounded loving family, wife Susan, children Eric, Andrea, and Lauren, daughter in law Hayley. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins miss him dearly with a shared love that surpasses any one generation.
