William Keith Young, 76 lifelong resident of Norwalk passed away quietly on June 25, 2015 in Cheshire Regional Rehab following a lengthy illness. He was born September 17th, 1938 during the great hurricane of "38" as he liked to tell everyone. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Velma Van Kleek Young. Three daughters, Cheryl Beck and husband Shawn Beck of Old Saybrook, CT; Jodi Young and husband Charlie Weston and grandson Tim Lash of Fairfield; Suzanne Flores and husband Juan Flores and grandson Keith Kimball of Norwalk. Bill worked at many local companies as his career grew in the electro/mechanical field starting at Remington Rand working on one of the first computers. He also worked at Perkin Elmer, Pitney Bowes Alpex, Coleco and Alden O. Sherman Co. He was an avid woodworker taking on many projects for family and friends. He became known to many as their second husband and it was not unusual to receive a call from wife #2, 3, or 4 with a new project. His love of children was well known especially for "adopted" grandchildren Katie and Lucas Brandt. A memorial service will be held at a date to be announced to celebrate Bill's Life. Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street has been entrusted with arrangements.
