O'NEILL-William P. O'Neill, 85, of Norwalk passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 29. He was born in New Haven to Charles and Bridget O'Neill, where he spent his early years. William, known as Bill by friends and loved ones, served in the U.S. Army as part of General Mark Clark's armored guard stationed in Vienna, Austria. Bill enjoyed a long career in the automobile industry as a car salesman and dealership general manager. He earned Master Salesman Status by Pontiac, which was his favorite make. Bill built his career on loyalty and honesty, and was held in high esteem by many longtime customers and friends. Bill served on the Board of Directors of the Norwalk Senior Center. Bill was a caring, generous man who put the needs of others before his own. His greatest joy was his family. He would create wonderful meals that his family and friends would look forward to sharing. To cherish Bill's memory are his wife of 52 years, Gloria (DiDio), his daughters Brenna (Rick) Lusardo of Norwalk, CT, Tara (Omar) Moneim of Cincinnati, OH, son Terry (Virginia) O'Neill of Eagle, Michigan, granddaughters Kellye (Keith) Bishop of Greenwich, CT, Sydney and Micaela Lusardo, great granddaughter Bree Bishop , his Aunt Eileen Manning and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Charles. The family would like to thank the Norwalk Hospital for all the kindnesses extended during the last few months, especially the nurses, PCT's, and doctors on the 8th floor east and 6th floor east hospice.
