WESTON, CONN. Willfred Goldschmidt, a resident of Weston, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 in his home, following a lengthy illness. He was 77. Born in Roslyn, NY on June 25, 1931, he was the son of the late Heinrik and Wally (Martin) Goldschmidt and graduated from Roslyn High School in 1948. Willfred furthered his education at Carnegie Mellon University of Pittsburgh, where he obtained his degree in Industrial Design. Following his degree, he served his country by joining the United States Army, where he served during the Korean Conflict. Willfred was a self employed Industrial Design Consultant and co-owned and operated DesignSpring of Westport for twenty-five years, up until the time of his death. He was also responsible for over fifty patents, many of which are recognized worldwide. He was a member the industry's organization, the IDSA. An avid sailor, Willfred was a member of the Wilson Cove Yacht Club of Rowayton, where he served as Commodore in 1995. He was also a great family man, who enjoyed spending time with his loving family and friends. Will is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Julia A. D'Arcy and his son, Christopher B. Goldschmidt of Austin, TX; and his two daughters, Laurie A. Goldschmidt and her husband, Kenneth Rowe of North Salem, NY and Lisa S. Goldschmidt of New Fairfield, CT; two sisters, Ursula Kuhn of Webster, NY and Elizabeth Mallett of Chapel Hill, N.C.; two grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. Willfred's funeral services were held privately at the convenience of the family.
