Welmon was a man of great faith. He was a member of Saint Frances A.M.E. Zion in Port Chester, NY, where he served on the Trustee Board and the Lay Council. He loved his church, and he was very supportive of all their efforts.

He retired in the mid-’90s, and he and his wife Geraldine moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C. After enjoying a few years of retirement, BHI Energy recruited him as a Construction representative. He returned to Norwalk, and he retired permanently in 2020 as a Construction Manager.
He loved to travel. He and Geraldine took yearly vacations to Saint Martin and many cruise vacations. He was a family man who doted on his children and grandchildren. His most treasured times were attending family gatherings, especially his family reunions. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends. His favorite interests were fishing, bowling, and playing golf.
