Welmon Dennison

1946-2023

Welmon was born on September 2, 1946, in Georgetown, South Carolina, to the late Cephus Dennison Sr. and Pearl Morant Dennison. He was one of eight children. He attended Georgetown Public Schools and relocated to Norwalk, Connecticut, shortly after graduating high school.

Welmon was a man of great faith. He was a member of Saint Frances A.M.E. Zion in Port Chester, NY, where he served on the Trustee Board and the Lay Council. He loved his church, and he was very supportive of all their efforts.

He was known for his intelligence, always willing to give sound advice and instruction to anyone who sought his counsel.

He worked in the Electric Utility Industry for over 40 years. In 1967, he started working for Connecticut Light & Power, where he held several positions and received many promotions, including Plant Equipment Operator, Electrician District Supervisor, and Lineman and Electrician Dispatcher. He retired in the mid-’90s, and he and his wife Geraldine moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C. After enjoying a few years of retirement, BHI Energy recruited him as a Construction representative. He returned to Norwalk, and he retired permanently in 2020 as a Construction Manager.

He loved to travel. He and Geraldine took yearly vacations to Saint Martin and many cruise vacations. He was a family man who doted on his children and grandchildren. His most treasured times were attending family gatherings, especially his family reunions.  He also enjoyed spending time with his friends. His favorite interests were fishing, bowling, and playing golf.

Welmon leaves to treasure his memories, his wife, Geraldine, one daughter, Cheressia Dennison, and three sons, Stuart Dennison, Warren Dennison, and Tony (Jackie) Skinner. Two stepsons, Samuel J. Pride, and Howard Pride. Three brothers, Stephen Dennison, Earl (Denise) Dennison Sr., and Harold (Kimberlee) Dennison. Three sisters, Otelia (Buster) Alston, Verdell (Joshua) Cuffee, Joyce McBride, and a sister-in-law Rubertha Swift. One aunt, Julia Dennison English. Seventeen grandchildren, Trevor, Kimiko, Derrick, Skyler, William, Kieran, Donyae, Alijah, Taylor, Navi, Samuel, Crystal, Najeem, Jalen, Dekala, Julian, and Yasely, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends

In addition to his parents, his brother Cephus and stepson Marvin Potts predeceased him. Welmon will be truly missed.
