NORWALK, CONN Walter P. Kruhlinski, Sr. passed away on October 18, 2009 in his home, following a brief illness. He was 82. Born in Elmont, Long Island, New York on October 08, 1927, Walter was the son of the late Peter and Stella (Kielbowicc) Kruhlinski and moved to Connecticut at a young age. He was a 1945 graduate of Norwalk High School and continued into the trade of engineering. He served our country during WWII in the United States Navy and upon his return, settled in Norwalk to raise his family. Walter worked for Pitney Bowes as a designer for thirty-eight years, before retiring in 1990. He loved woodworking, puzzles and his vegetable garden. He was a devoted family man who loved holiday gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Walter was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 46 and the Laurel Athletic Club, both of Norwalk. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Marion L. (Sanfilippo) Kruhlinski; a son, Walter P. Kruhlinski, Jr. of Norwalk; three daughters, Cathylynn and her husband, Scott Faulds of Woodbury, Elaine and her husband, Jimmy Chandler of Norwalk and Barbara and her husband, Gene Johnson, Jr. of Norwalk; eight grandchildren, Jamie and her husband, Chris Pichardo, Jessica, Lauren and Samantha Faulds, Jimmy and Nicole Chandler and Eric and Ryan Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Christopher Pichardo. Preceded in death was one sister. Walter's family will receive friends on Monday, October 26, 2009 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 4:00PM - 8:00PM. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in the parlor at 10:00AM. He will be laid to rest with full military honors in Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk.
