Walter Charles Kostrzewski, aged 82, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away on May 15, 2024. He was born on April 12, 1942, in Maspeth, New York. Walter, also known as "Chief," was a loving husband to his wife Elaine, celebrating 58 years of marriage. Devoted father to his sons Walter and Paul, father-in-law to Kristen and Ellie, and cherished by his grandchildren Luke, Alex, Emmie, and Aiden.
Walter served in the National Guard Reserves and had a successful career with the New York City Police Department, where he received a medal for Meritorious Service, Commendation-Integrity. His dedication to his community extended beyond his professional life. He was a Grand Exalted Ruler and a member of the board of trustees at the Huntington Elks Lodge 1565. An avid golfer, he organized the Elks Lodge Charity Golf Outing for over a decade, where 1 of his THREE hole-in-ones were achieved. Walter was also actively involved in the Harbor Boating Club, where he served on the entertainment committee. Parishioner at Both St. Patrick Catholic Church in Huntington, NY and St. Andrews in Myrtle Beach, SC, Walter was a Knight of Columbus.
Walter loved spending many hours following his grandkids, Luke and Alex, around many ice rinks all over North America.
And sharing the love and playfulness with younger grandkids Emmie and Aiden.
In his younger years, Walter volunteered many hours to St. Patrick's Little League Baseball and Basketball programs.
He was a proud member of the Grover Cleveland High School alumni.
Memorial services will be held in Norwalk and Wilton, CT

Walter Kostrzewski is survived by his wife Elaine. Son and daughter-in law Walter and Kristen. Son and Daughter-in-law Paul and Ellie. Grandchildren Alex, Emmie, and Aiden, and his brother Charlie Kostrzewski. He was preceded in death by his father Sylvester, mother Elizabeth, brother Sylvester, and grandson Luke.
Walter's impact on his family, friends, and community will
be remembered and cherished.
Friends may greet the family on Friday May 24, 2024 from 5:00 till 8:00 pm a the Raymond Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street in Historic Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday May 25, 2024 at 10:00 am directly at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Wilton. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Queens, NY.
