Vito Calandrino, 79, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 16, 2015. Born in Mazara del Vallo, Sicily, Italy, to the late Matteo Calandrino and Filippa Mazurco, on December 20, 1935. Vito was the life of any party or family gathering bringing laughter and joy. He loved singing and was an avid fisherman. Vito was a master stone mason, the work he has done will be cherished and enjoyed for years to come. Vito is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Agata, and their 5 children, son Matteo Calandrino of Norwalk, and four daughters Fina Rallo of California, Brigida Vescio (Pasquale) of Norwalk, Rosa Greco (Peter) of Redding, and Enza Catterino (Leo) of Redding. He is also survived by 12 cherished grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter. Besides his parents Vito is predeceased by a beloved son-in-law Joe Rallo. A visitation will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street, Norwalk, CT. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 10:30AM and processing for a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish at 11:00AM.
