NORWALK, CONN. Verlanda "Nonna Ini" Marini, a Norwalk resident, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 in Norwalk Hospital, following a short illness. She was 91. Her beloved husband, Sante Marini of fifty years, passed away in 1986. Born in Torrice, Provincia di Frosinone , Italia on October 11, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Alessandra (Ferrante) Palmieri. She was raised in Italia and emigrated to the States in 1956, where she settled in Norwalk. Verlanda loved spending time with her entire family and enjoyed cooking for them. She was a special lady who will be missed dearly. She is survived by three sons, Philip and his wife, Marie Marini of Seymour, Frank and his wife, Diana of Norwalk and Alex and his wife, Kathy of Norwalk; four daughters, Gina Palmieri of Seymour, Mafalda and her husband, Lino Marini of Weston, Luigina Montoni of Seymour and Maria and her husband, David English of Weston; two brothers, Carlo and Fred Palmieri, both of Trumbull; two sisters, Alessandra and America, both of Italia; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Verlanda's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, October 3, 2008 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 4:00PM-8:00PM. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2008 from the funeral parlor at 8:15AM, where the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk, for a 9:00AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
