MAMARONECK, NY/STAMFORD, CONN. Vera Benna of Stamford passed away on Monday, August 29, 2011 in the Tandet Center of Stamford, following an illness. She was 93. Daughter of the late Joseph and Amelia Kokosky; Wife of the late Joseph Richard Benna, Sr.; Mother of Joseph Richard Benna, Jr., Nina Genovese, Christine Iannarelli and the late Thomas Benna; Sister of Irene Robertson, Sophie (Lottie) Robertson, the late Jean Murphy, and the late Wanda Karaszewski; Grandmother of William Genovese, Laurie MacFarlane, Matthew Benna, Jennifer Iannarelli and the late Kimberly Benna; Great-Grandmother of Logan Benna and Hannah MacFarlane; and several nieces and nephews. Vera's family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, September 10, 2011 in the vestibule of the Basilica of St John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 279 Atlantic Street, Stamford from 8:30AM - 9:00AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:00AM. Interment will be held privately in St. Raymond Cemetery, Bronx NY. Remembrances of Vera's life may be made to an Alzheimer's charity of your choice or to The Basilica.
