The Life, Love & Legacy of
Thomas Wright, Jr., affectionately known as “TJ,” entered peacefully into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut, with his family by his side. He was 49 years old. TJ was born on June 18, 1976, in Stamford, Connecticut, to the late Thomas Wright, Sr., and the late Rosalind Mitchell Wright.
At a young age, TJ was baptized and attended Greater Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church in Stamford, CT. He graduated from Westhill High School, Stamford, CT - Class of 1995, and continued his education in the culinary field. Throughout his career, he held several positions and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. Prior to his illness, he was employed with Excel Communications Inc., in Norwalk, CT.
TJ had many passions, but cooking was at the heart of them all. He often talked about opening a restaurant or food truck, and during a family vacation to the Jersey Shore, he entered a cooking contest and won First Prize. He loved to travel and fondly reminisced about his many adventures, especially his most recent cruise to Alaska and time spent in Seattle, WA. When he wasn’t preparing a meal or planning his next journey, TJ could be found listening to music, dancing, and bringing joy to every gathering—he was truly the life of the party. In his downtime, he enjoyed watching the Food Network channel, playing PS5 and taking care of his fish.
Those who knew him understood the priceless moments he shared with Tanesha and his daughter. TJ truly loved his family, his extended family, and his friends. He praised them often for the love they gave him. With a humble spirit, even through difficult times, he remained positive and always looked toward the light.
TJ leaves behind a legacy of strength and laughter, cherished by the love of his life of twenty-five years, Tanesha Lewis; his beloved daughter, Tessiah (Dominick) Wright; and his precious newborn grandson, Domenico Thomas Almonte, all of Norwalk, CT. His family was his pride and joy, and that love extends to his brother, Anthony (Betty) Hall of Bridgeport, CT; four aunts, Marie (Louis) Rivers, Betty Prezzy, Tawanda Wright all of Vance, SC, Brenda (Henry) Smith of Jonesboro, GA; one unclethree aunts, Marie (Louis) Rivers, Betty Prezzy, and Tawanda Wright all of Vance, SC; and one uncle, Victor Person of Waterbury, CT. TJ was a devoted uncle to his two nieces, Antinaya and Tiana, and five nephews, Elijah, Jovanni, Jordan, Justin, and Jeremiah. He is also lovingly remembered by his great-niece, three great-nephews, and his extended Austin and Copeland families. TJ also leaves behind his lifelong friends—his “partners in crime,”—Nitty, Bee, Ron C, Flood, and Nas—along with many cousins and a host of loving and sorrowing friends who lives were forever touched by his presence.
In addition to his parents, TJ was preceded in death by his sister, Thelma Nicole Wright.
