Theresa J Martinez

NORWALK, CONN. Theresa J. Martinez of Norwalk, passed away on Sunday, October 05, 2008 in Norwalk Hospital, after a lengthy illness. She was 99 years of age. She was the wife of the late Salvador Chavez and Lorenzo Martinez. Born in El Salvador on March 18, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Adrian and Teresa (Castro) Calvo and emigrated to the States in 1967, settling in Norwalk. Theresa enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending her time with family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Oscar and his wife, Magdalena Chavez and Salvador and his wife, Rina Chavez, all of Norwalk; a daughter, Theresa and her husband, Moises Moreno of Guatemala; a brother, Alfonso Calvo of El Salvador; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death was a daughter, Rosa Mejia, who passed in 2003. Theresa's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, October 07, 2008 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 5:00PM - 8:00PM. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 08, 2008 in the funeral parlor, at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Norwalk.
