Shirley M. Barnum Vredenburgh age 77, beloved wife to George Finch Vredenburgh of Seymour, died April 29, 2013 at Shady Knoll Health Care. She was born November 27, 1935 in Norwalk and was a daughter of the late Clifford and Lena Barnum. Shirley loved working with children and worked at the Norwalk Jewish Community Center as a preschool teacher and Derby Daycare for many years Survivors in addition to her husband include her loving children, Laurel Trani, George Vredenburgh, Sharon Lyons and Melinda Bottone (Mindy); a sister Marie Betts; her grandchildren Jillian, Danielle, Evan, Kirsten, Benjamin, Cassandra, Caty and Tommy and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Shady Knoll Nursing facility staff for taking such great care of our mother for the past five years. All of your compassion and dedication was greatly appreciated. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday May 4, 2013, 10:00 a.m. until noon at Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street. A prayer service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
