Shirley E. Maillard

Shirley E. Perks Maillard of Norwalk, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 20, 2015. She was 96 years of age.

Shirley loved working as a bookkeeper, and did so until she was well into her 70’s. She was known for having a great head for numbers, and for having a phenomenal memory. Shirley was much appreciated by her  younger relatives, as the go-to person to fill in the blanks on the family tree. In her younger years, she loved to entertain family and friends, especially at the holidays.

Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-five years Paul C. Maillard, her parents Effie and George Perks, and her sister Pauline Perks. She is survived by cousins Carl Jacobs of Maryland, Caryl Kuchman of South Carolina, and Jeffrey Jacobs of Virginia; and by her beloved cat and constant companion, Freebie.

A special thanks goes out to Maillard family friend John Giglio of Newtown, for the friendship and support he  provided to Shirley over the past several years since the death of her husband.

A private service will be held, with burial in Meriden. You may send contributions in memory of Shirley to a charity of one’s choice.

The family has selected Norwalk’s Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory to assist them with the funeral arrangements.
