Samuel H. Butler, Jr., a/k/a “Junie” or “Cool Breeze”, 88-years-old, passed away peacefully at the Norwalk Hospital on January 24, 2026. He was born on February 18, 1937 to Samuel H. Butler, Sr. and Anna Butler, and raised in Norwalk, where he excelled at baseball in the intercity leagues, before moving to Stamford, where he went on to become a painter at St. Joseph’s Hospital for many years until his retirement. At that time he moved back to Norwalk and resided with his sister, Marion Butler-Hood until the time of his passing. Junie loved to travel to the Bahamas and take cruises once he retired, with his now deceased devoted friend, Katherine Collins. He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Amelia Butler Hendricks, and Barbara Hudson, as well as three brothers, Robert, Edward, and Curtis, and his nephew Tommy Hendricks, who died in Vietnam. He is survived by his sister, Marion Butler-Hood, his only surviving sibling, three nieces, Sandra Hendricks-Bigelow, Karen Hendricks-Bailey and Courtney Hudson, as well as several nephews and friends.
