Norwalk, Conn. Sabrina G. "Sally" Lametta of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in Norwalk Hospital, following an illness. She was 94 years of age. The eldest daughter of fourteen children, Sally was born in Norwalk on February 10, 1914 to the late Antonio and Carmella (Piccirillo) Lametta and attended local schools. She was a hard worker who loved to cook Italian food for her friends and family. She worked as a seamstress since the age of seventeen until her mid seventies. Her speed while working on the sewing machine was so impressive, her manager decided to time it. The results led to Sally earning the title of the "World's Fastest Seamstress" and was awarded by her company. She is survived by a daughter, Sandra G. Vanderpoel of South Chatham, Mass; four grandchildren, Erik and Trinette Vanderpoel, Judith Pascaval and James Stewart; two great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. Also survived are two brothers, Joe and Jimmy Lametta and three sisters, Connie Williams, Rose Burke and Louise Scianna and their respective families. A Memorial Mass will be announced at a later date. The family has selected Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street, to assist them with their choice in cremation.
