NORWALK- Russell Tobey Geitz (Russ), 75, of Norwalk died peacefully with his family by his side on July 5, 2016.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Anne Geitz; his son Timothy Alan Geitz of Wilton; daughter-in-law Lindsey Ruth Geitz of Wilton; and three amazing grandchildren, Lindsay Geitz, Emma Geitz and Wyland Geitz of Wilton CT.
He married Shirley Ann on September 11, 1965 in Norwalk. They spent their lifetimes loving each other and raising their adored son. The consummate father and husband Russell devoted his free time to his family. Russ was an avid golfer if he wasn’t playing he was watching golf on TV. Family was first and foremost for Russ, and he loved spending time with his wife, son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren.
He was born on November 29, 1940, in Norwalk, C.T., the son of Frederick and Gertrude Geitz (formally Tobey). He grew up in Norwalk, and graduated from Norwalk High School. Upon graduation, he married his best friend Shirley and began his education to become an electrician. He was accomplished, hard-working and compassionate. He was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and an active supporter of Local Union 208 until his retirement.
Russell’s largest accomplishment was his unbelievable real life LOVE STORY with his Bride of 50 years. He died happy and filled with love for his family.
Services will be held 4-8PM PM at Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street, Norwalk, CT on Thursday the 7th of July. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00AM on Friday the 8th of July in Norwalk at Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home with the procession leading to St John’s Cemetery – the funeral service will be followed by lunch at the South Norwalk Boat Club located at 17 Mack Street in South Norwalk.
