Rose E. Dennis, a lifelong member of Norwalk, passed away in her home on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 following a brief illness. She was 100 years of age. Her husband Arthur M. Dennis of twenty years, passed away in 1946. Born in Norwalk on January 11, 1909, Rose was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Helluck Kubovic and attended local schools. During WWII, she volunteered for the Red Cross as an ambulance driver in the Motor Corp and continued volunteering helping others up through her seventies. She worked as a housekeeper for Harold R. Austin for many years. Rose loved to make pickles, have tag sales, babysit, and have a bottomless glass of wine. She also had a deep love for all kinds of animals, especially "Wolfie" (aka Dam Dog) who was her best companion for the last nine years. She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis D. and her husband, Stanley B. Klein of Westport; seven grandchildren, Sue Kohl of CA, Kim Merritt of Norwalk, Jeffrey King of Norwalk, Karen Haskins of Branford, Christopher King of Norwalk, Patty Dennis of Norwalk and Patty Dennis of CA; fourteen great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth Jeffrey of FL; a daughter in law, Carla Dennis of Norwalk, a son-in-law Joseph King of FL, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death were two sons, Robert J. (1973) and Richard S. Dennis (1981); a daughter, Elaine (Pat) King (1990) and fourteen siblings. The family would like to thank Gloria Puccinelli for her care and love for Rose in her last years. Rose's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, September 13, 2009 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 2:00PM - 4:00PM. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the PAWS, 504 Main Ave., Norwalk, CT or Mid-Fairfield Hospice.
