Rose C Anderson

NORWALK, CONN Rose C. Anderson of Norwalk, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 in Norwalk Hospital following a short illness. She was 93. Rose was a resident of Ludlow Commons. Born on March 28, 1916 in the Bronx, Rose was the daughter of the late Simon and Margaret (Mulrooney) Poons and attended local schools. She worked as a medical office manager in the Bronx for fifteen years. She then became a night supervisor for a senior living center in southern New Jersey for over thirteen years before retiring in 1984, when Rose became a Norwalk resident. Rose's family values were quite strong - she was an adviser and friend to all the young cousins and grandchildren, either by sharing a cup of tea or with a letter. She also had a close extended family at Ludlow Commons and enjoyed the friendships she made there. She is survived by a son, Charles James, III and his wife, Kristen Anderson of New Canaan; two daughters, Joan and her husband David Haddon of Norwalk and Margaret and her husband, John Mooney of The Villages, FL; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Cippitelli of Ocala, FL and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death were: her beloved husband, Charles James Anderson II, a daughter, Rosemarie Podwoski; brother, Edward Poons and three sisters, Anna Bastone, Estelle Nardo and Agnes Becker. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, August 30, 2009 from 2:00PM - 5:00PM in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street. Rose's funeral will be held on Monday, August 31, 2009 at 9:20AM from the parlor, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM. She will be laid to rest alongside her daughter at Mount Hebron Cemetery, 851 Valley Road, Montclair, NJ, following the Mass.
