Rosalie Barcia age 84, of Palm Harbor, FL passed away peacefully on May 31, 2014 after a long battle with ALS with her family by her side. She was born February 12, 1930 in Palermo, Italy and was a daughter to the late Salvatore & Rosa Xhanino. She was married to the love of her life, the late Charles Barcia and they were married for 41 years. She was the proud mother of four devoted children: Anthony Barcia and his wife Linda of Stratford; Salvatore Barcia and his wife Denise of Trumbull & two daughters, Margaret Barcia-McNerney and her husband Sean of Guilford & Rose Barcia-Masiuk and her husband Mark of Trumbull. She also had eight grandchildren whom she adored, Eryn, Jillian, Alec, Illeana, Lauren, Katie, Luke and Julia as well as several nieces & nephews. She was the sister of Matthew Xhanino of Stratford; Antonina Xhanino of Italy; the late Francesco Xhanino of Italy, and the late Andrew Xhanino of Switzerland. Throughout her entire life, she always took care of the people around her, putting their needs before hers. Her happiest moments were spending time with her family and friends, most especially with her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking their favorite meals, talking and giving her love and affection whenever possible. The holidays were her moment to shine and take charge. She always made them special with her presence and personal touch to every meal. She loved her home in Florida, it was a place she loved to share with anyone and everyone that would come to visit-the Beach, Disney, her swimming pool, it didn't matter. Everyone that met her loved her, especially for her kindness and willingness to help anyone with whatever they needed. She will be missed always remembered for her loving ways and selfless acts of kindness. Friends are invited to greet the family on Tuesday June 3, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory, 5 East Wall Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday June 4, 2014 at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Norwalk. Entombment will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Mausoleum in Farmingdale, NY.
