NORWALK, CONN Roberto Fernando Mazariegos Siguenza, a longtime resident of Norwalk, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011 in his home surrounded by family. Roberto was born on June 26, 1929 in Olintepeque Quetzaltenango, Guatemala to the late Fernando Mazariegos and Mauricia Siguenza de Mazariegos. He worked as a Private Radio Operator for the President of Guatemala and later at Perkin Elmer in Norwalk. Achieving the American Dream, he opened up doors for his daughters and grandchildren. Although a man of few words, he spoke volumes through actions. He expressed his love in different ways by checking the oil in his daughters' cars or by driving his grandchildren to and from school faithfully through pre-school to high school. After a brave thirteen year battle with cancer, he leaves behind a big united family that misses him dearly. He is survived by his loving wife, Marina Garcia Mazariegos; three daughters: Alma Morrissette, Ada Abarca and Zaida Folgar; grandchildren: David Martin, Nabil Valencia, Kristha Mazariegos, Daniela Abarca and Erika Folgar and many more relatives living in Guatemala. The Mazariegos family will receive friends on Thursday, June 30, 2011 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 5:00PM - 8:00PM. Roberto's funeral will be held on Friday, July 01, 2011 in the parlor at 10:00AM. The Rev. Jamie Marin of St. Joseph R.C. Church of South Norwalk is to officiate. Entombment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. HOYT-COGNETTA is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
