NORWALK, CONN/ BAXLEY, GA Robert L. Smith, Jr., of Norwalk and Baxley, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2008 in Marathon Healthcare Center of Norwalk, after a long illness. He was 64 years of age. He was employed at Hazlehurst Mills in McRae, Georgia for over twenty years and recently moved to Connecticut to be with his family. He leaves to cherish his memories: his children, Sharon Smith, Avis Smith-Stukes, Michael Smith, Terrance Smith and Toni Smith (step daughter) all of Norwalk; a brother William Smith; sisters Ernestine Wilson, Mary Pope, Nelly Smith, Geneva Smith and Vera Latimore. Robert was beloved by all, and will be sorely missed. A private memorial service will be held for the immediate family. A repast will be held on Friday, October 3, 2008 in St. James Baptist Church, 60 Rockland Road, Norwalk, from 5:00PM-8:00PM. Interment will be private. The family has chosen Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street to assist them in the arrangements.
