Darien/Norwalk, Conn. Richard "Rit" Kaufman, age 54, of Darien, passed away on October 28, 2011. Born in Norwalk, Conn. on October 20, 1957, Rit was the son of the late Edward and Jeannette (Shahhien) Kaufman and was a 1976 graduate of Norwalk High School. Following graduation, he entered into the field of automotive repair and subsequently achieved the thirty-year title of Master Jaguar Mechanic. Rit was well liked with a contagious smile, enjoyed grilling and being with his family. He is survived by four loving children, Jennifer Kelly, Jason, Katie and Andrew Kaufman. He was a proud grandfather of Tyler Kelly. Additionally, Rit is survived by his siblings, Edward, Jim, Deborah and Paul Kaufman; former wife Karen Kaufman and several nieces and nephews. Rit's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, November 03, 2011 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 5:00PM - 8:00PM. His funeral will be held on Friday, November 04, 2011 at 9:25AM from the parlor, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 East Avenue, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. Memorial Contribution in Rit's name can be made to a charity of one's choice.
