Richard Cordero, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, a recent resident of Wilton and long-time resident of Norwalk, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2026, surrounded by love and family.

Richard, 65, was born on July 11, 1961, in Brooklyn, NY. Richard spent his youth in New York City where he graduated from Norman Thomas High School in 1978. One of his proudest moments in school was skipping a grade due to his academic achievements.

Richard had a lifelong career working in the scrap metal industry. He started off as a teen working in the mail room at Clarendon Ltd. and worked his way up to becoming a scrap metal trader. He later joined Newco Ferrous Trading and eventually, European Metal Recycling (EMR). Richard brought EMR down to Camden, NJ where they acquired Camden Iron and Steel. He worked for EMR for over 20 years where he was a vital and valued part of the company. In his profession, he was fortunate to have traveled the world, living in several different countries and learning many languages.

While working in Stamford, CT, Richard met his dear wife of 35 years, Robin. Together, they built a wonderful life with their three beautiful children, who Richard was so proud of.

Richard’s greatest joy was spending time with his family on outings, at get-togethers, holidays, and vacations, especially when travelling to Puerto Rico to visit his parents. He had a great love for basketball that he passed down to his kids and was thrilled to see his hometown Knicks win the championship this past spring. Richard also enjoyed reading, going on long walks, and sitting at the beach.

All who knew and loved Richard will always remember his wonderful personality, his gift for storytelling, his limericks, his “twinkling” fingers, and his endless supply of jokes. He was the life of the party, always on the dance floor, and a great dancer he was. Richard had an easygoing, good-natured spirit and a remarkable ability to see the best in everyone he met.

Richard is pre-deceased by his mother Carmen Valle, father Julio Cordero, stepfather Jose Valle, and father-in-law Michael Carella. Richard leaves behind his wife Robin, his daughters Kristen Cordero (Kevin Tobias) and Alexa Perez (Ricardo), and his son Richie Cordero. Richard recently became a grandfather to Luca Michael Perez, who brought such happiness to his life. Richard loved them all so very much.

Richard also leaves behind his brothers Julio (Barbara) and Luis Cordero (Viviana), his sister Sonia Martinez (Robert), and his brother-in-law Michael Carella (Gail). Richard cherished his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, and held a particularly special place in his heart for his mother-in-law, Audrey Carella, who he loved dearly.

It is with tremendous sadness and broken hearts that we say goodbye to Richard, our courageous hero. He may have left this earth, but our memories will live on and remain in our hearts forever.
