In Loving Memory of Raul Serrano Nieves
Raul Serrano Nieves, of Norwalk, Connecticut, passed away on August 21, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 19, 1946, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, Raul was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, father-in-law, and cherished friend. He was a man of deep faith whose life was defined by his unwavering love for his family, his generous spirit, his strong work ethic, and his kind and gentle heart.
Raul was the beloved husband of Awilda Serrano for 56 years. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, and the countless memories they created together.
He was a loving and devoted father and a proud grandfather. His children and grandchildren were among his greatest blessings and brought him immeasurable joy. He took great pride in watching his family grow and was happiest when everyone was together.
Raul was known for his gentle spirit, wonderful sense of humor, and willingness to help anyone in need. He had a natural ability to make people feel welcome and comfortable. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing a word of wisdom, or making someone laugh, Raul gave of himself freely. He never needed recognition for his kindness; helping others was simply who he was.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Raul took great pride in providing for his family. He spent many years as a business owner in his community, earning the respect of those around him. Yet his work never defined him. His greatest accomplishment was the family he built and the values he passed down to his children.
Some of Raul’s happiest moments were also the simplest—gathering around the dinner table, celebrating birthdays and holidays, sharing stories and laughter, watching his grandchildren grow, taking neighborhood walks, spending time outdoors, and simply being surrounded by the people he loved.
Raul carried with him a deep love for his Puerto Rican roots and took great pride in the traditions of his birthplace, San Lorenzo. He shared those traditions with his family, instilling the importance of family, togetherness, and love. His heritage remains an enduring part of the legacy he leaves to his children and grandchildren.
Above all, Raul was a man of deep and abiding faith. He trusted in God throughout his life and believed in the power of prayer, love, forgiveness, and family. His faith was not simply something he spoke about—it was something he lived. Through his example, he taught his children the importance of working hard, loving deeply, helping others, treating people with compassion and respect, and remaining faithful even during difficult times.
His family finds comfort in knowing that Raul is now at peace and has been called home to the Lord. While his passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him, they are grateful for the many years they were blessed to share with him and for the memories that will remain with them always.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, caregivers, friends, and loved ones who provided Raul with care, comfort, prayers, and support during his final days. Your kindness, compassion, and presence during this difficult time will never be forgotten.
Although our hearts are broken by his passing, we are grateful for the privilege of having loved him and for the beautiful life we were blessed to share with him. We will miss his voice, his laughter, his hugs, his stories, his sense of humor, and the comfort of simply knowing he was there.
We take comfort in our faith and in the promise that death is not the end, but the beginning of eternal life with God. We believe Raul has been welcomed into the loving arms of the Lord, where he is at peace and free from suffering, and we hold onto the promise that one day, through God’s grace, we will be reunited with him.
May he rest peacefully in the loving arms of the Lord. May perpetual light shine upon him.
And may his soul, through the mercy of God, rest in eternal peace. Forever loved.Forever missed.Forever in our hearts.
