Raimundo Salgado “Cholo”, 84, of Norwalk, CT passed away Friday, July 22, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born in Puerto Rico on March 15, 1938 to the late Alfredo and Justina Salgado.
Raimundo attended the Bible Institute, Spanish District, Assemblies of God and was a certified Notary Public in the State of Connecticut. He worked for many years in the administrative offices for Nash Engineering and Dooney & Bourke. In his early years he was a broadcaster for WNLK radio station and “La Voz Borincana”. In the 1970’s he was recognized in New York “El Diario” Newspaper for helping flood victims in Puerto Rico. Raimundo was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Pentecostal Church John 3:16 in Norwalk for over 41 years.
He volunteered in politics encouraging Hispanics to become voters. He was very active in his church community. His passion was composing many songs and poems to sing and recite in his congregation. One of his most passionate hobbies was photographing and video taping his family. He did not leave home without his camera or video camera. He was NOTORIOUS for his organization skills, dating and documenting daily events. Although he was ill for a very long time, he never lost his keen sense of humor which he was known for.
Raimundo is survived by his loving wife, Bienvenida of 63 years, his daughters Maritza and Gisele, grandchildren Angel, Conner, and Lauren. As well as his siblings Alfredo and Elsa.
He is predeceased by his grandson Jacob, and his siblings Petra, Perico, and Samuel.
Family and friends are invited to the Raymond Funeral Home in Historic Norwalk, 5 E Wall Street for calling hours Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow at the St. John’s Cemetery in Norwalk at 12:30 P.M.
