Peter N. Vita of Naples, FL (formerly Norwalk, CT), born April 4, 1940 in Bronx, NY to Ottavio and Elvira Vita, passed away Tuesday, January 9th, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. Peter will be greatly missed by his wife Maureen (LoBuglio) and their daughter Emma Vita, his former-wife Sara Vita (Key West, FL), and their four children; Donna Vita, (Michael Friedman) Weston, CT, Peter (Miami, FL), Christopher (Claudia,) Thousand Oaks, CA and Thomas (Diahann Klein) Woodland Hills, CA, six grandchildren Jamie Friedman, Alexander, Sophia, Kyle, Cole and Piper Vita, three sisters, Mary-Ann Rand, Bellmore, NY, Christine Grecco (John), Hicksville, NY, Kathleen Leo (Bobby), Champions Gate, FL and his Father and Mother in-law, Vincent (Jim) and Marjorie LoBuglio, Stamford, CT. He was predeceased by his parents and two nephews, Adam Rand and James LoBuglio Jr.
Peter was raised in Hicksville, NY and later moved to Huntington, NY where he raised his first four children. He worked for many years with his brothers in-law in the remodeling business throughout Long Island and New York City.
Peter owned and operated Quarter Deck Restaurant in Stamford, CT from 1973 to 1988. He then returned to his true passion as a master marble and tile installer, designing and renovating kitchens and baths throughout Fairfield and Westchester Counties. His masterpiece was his own home, an 1857 Italianate in Norwalk, CT where he raised his youngest daughter.
Peter loved spending summers in Warwick, RI, playing golf during the day and enjoying evenings with special friends and family members. Annually, he ventured out West with his children and grandchildren, exploring national parks. Peter’s never ending curiosity led to enriching memories that he enjoyed sharing with his loved ones. He touched the lives of everyone he knew and was loved and respected by all. We will miss his incredible sense of humor and his innate ability to hold us all captive with his informative, interesting and funny stories.
A memorial celebration of Peter’s life will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Unitarian Church of Westport, 10 Lyons Plains Rd, Westport, CT, at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Norwalk Hospital Volunteer Board, 34 Maple Street, Norwalk, CT 06856 or the National Park Foundation, https://donate.nationalparks.org/ .
