NORWALK, CONN Pedro Ortiz of Norwalk passed away on Friday, January 21, 2011 in Norwalk Hospital after an illness. He was 85. He was the beloved husband to Maria Gonzalez Ortiz of sixty-five years. Born in Puerto Rico on June 28, 1925, Pedro was the son of the late Pedro and Maria (Colon) Ortiz and attended local schools. He proudly served our Nation during WWII and the Korean Conflict, before retiring honorably in late 1950. Along with his wife, he is survived by four sons, Angel Ortiz of New Fairfield, Conn, Miguel and Pedro J. Ortiz, both of Norwalk and Hector Ortiz of Delaware; one daughter, Doris Ortiz-Gonzalez of Hamden, Conn; nearly 20 grandchildren and nearly 20 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating Pedro's life will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, directly at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 85 South Main Street, South Norwalk. The Rev. G. Frantz Desruisseaux will officiate. You may start arriving after 9:30AM. Interment will military honors will be held at 1:30PM in the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Honoring the wishes of the family, there will be no calling hours. Kindly omit flowers. Instead, memorial contributions may be made directly to St. Joseph's Church.
