NORWALK, CONN Paul W. Avery, Sr. of Norwalk passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010 in his home after being stricken ill. He was 66. His beloved wife, Paula D. (Price) Avery of thirty-six years passed away in 2008. Born in Norwalk, Conn on March 31, 1944, Paul was the son of the late Homer and Almina (Cole) Avery and attended local schools. He served our Nation honorably in the United States Marine Corp. Paul worked as a truck driver at the former Valleries Trucking Co. of Norwalk for over thirty years. He also drove for various local companies, including Freddie's US MAIL of Norwalk. He was a great man who loved his family and enjoyed their company. Paul also enjoyed playing shuffleboard and darts. He was a longtime member of the Norwalk Boat Club. He touched the lives of many will be greatly missed. He is survived by two sons, Paul W. and his wife, Urani Avery and Christopher C.P. Avery, all of Norwalk; one daughter, Lorraine Avery of Norwalk; three brothers, Jimmy Gould, John Avery and Bob Avery; three sisters, Lynn Faulds, Ella Blackwell and Corra Turner; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceding in death was a sister, Doris Avery. The Avery family will receive friends on Thursday, September 30, 2010 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. In honor of Paul's service to our Nation, Military Honors will be rendered at the parlor. The funeral service and interment will be held privately.
