Patricia Ruth Eccles Bellantonio, age 88, of Bridgeport, CT, formerly of Norwalk and Stamford, beloved wife of the late Daniel Bellantonio, entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Born on March 31, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Frances (Schwappach) Eccles, and stepdaughter to the late Angelo Gallace. She graduated from Stamford High School in 1948 and was married to the love of her life, Danny, for 54 years before his passing in 2002. Pat was a loving wife, Mother, Grammie and Great Grammie. Being with family and friends were her greatest joy. She also enjoyed cruising, trips to the casino and was an avid fan of WWE Wrestling and the Jerry Springer Show. Her favorite pastimes were, crossword puzzles, play her lottery games, bingo and was very good at trivia. Whenever asked what her occupation was, she proudly said she was a “Domestic Goddess”. She was a kind, gentle and generous woman and all who met her were drawn to her wonderful disposition and sense of humor.
Pat is survived by her devoted children, Amy Stavola and Ray Aubin of Shelton CT, Fran and Mickey Ofiero of Norwalk CT, Patty and Bill Caldwell of Bluffton SC, Joe and Jennifer Bellantonio of Loxahatchee, FL, and Dan and Michelle Bellantonio of Stamford CT. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren of whom she was so proud, John and Jenna Stavola, and Cameron Bellantonio. She also leaves behind two beautiful great grandchildren, Owen and Quinn Stavola, and a special friend, Sheila Barney and Eve and Irma Brown, along with many nieces and nephews. Pat is also survived by two sisters, Jenny Ely and Winnie Ely, and one brother Gus Gallace.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband Danny, and brothers Thomas and William Eccles.
Mom was able to enjoy her later years due largely to the wonderful care she received from her daughter Fran and son-in-law, Mickey. Mom moved to the Jewish Senior Services, where she made many new friends and enjoyed many activities. The family would like to thank the nurses, aides and staff of the Siebert House for their compassionate care and attention to Mom. She truly loved and enjoyed her stay there.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday July 26, 2018 for 4:00 till 8:00 pm in Norwalk’s Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 10:00 am directly at St. Matthew’s Church, 216 Scribner Ave. Norwalk. Entombment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Norwalk.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the ASPCA, and St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
