Patricia Amaral, age 72, a long-time resident of Hamden, CT and currently a resident of Hobe Sound, FL, passed away in New Haven, CT on May 22, 2019 after a brief illness.
Born in Queens, NY, Pat was the daughter of the late John H. “Jack” Morrell and the late Rita Ptacek Morrell. She attended St. Brigid’s School in Westbury, NY and was a graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Hempstead, NY.
A Registered Nurse and the former Head Nurse of the Cardiac Care Unit at Syosset Hospital in Syosset NY, Pat received her Nursing Degree from St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center School of Nursing in New York City.
Pat put her Nursing career on hold for a number of years in 1972 when she married the late Tony Amaral, the long-time Head PGA Golf Professional at Woodbridge Country Club in Woodbridge, CT, and re-located to Hamden.
Small in size but big in heart, Pat used her endless energy to give her love and attention to family and friends. Her presence will be dearly missed, but her legacy lives on in those who she loved and inspired. She was a devoted member of Saint Christopher Church, in Hobe Sound, FL.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Colin Amaral of Jupiter, FL, her daughter Erin Schultz (Corey) of Norwalk, CT, her daughter Alynn Bensel (Frank) of Jupiter, FL, and her grandchildren Hagen, Wynn, Zachary, and Frances. Pat was pre-deceased by her brother John H. Morrell, Jr. and is also survived by her sister, Donna Pinney (Richard), and her brother Michael Morrell (Cece).
Friends may greet the family at Hoyt-Cognetta / Lesko Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street, in Historic Norwalk, CT on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Saint Mathew Church in Norwalk. Burial will be held in Florida at a later date.
