Patrice (Doran) Schramm, a Fairfield County real estate professional, dedicated wife & mother, and former elementary school teacher passed away peacefully at home at the age of 84. Known by many nicknames—Tessie, Bamb, Tricy and Glammy—Patrice was a spirited, quick-witted and driven woman.

Patrice was born in Queens, NY on January 8th, 1940 to Patrick (Carmen) Doran and Valorie McCabe (Morgan). She spent her childhood in Short Hills, New Jersey - growing up with her older sisters Catherine (Kitty) and Valorie. She attended college at St. Elizabeth’s University in Morristown, NJ and graduated with a bachelors in English in 1962. In her early career she began teaching 2nd graders at the Franklin Elementary School in Summit, New Jersey. In her mid-twenties, she went on a blind double date with her sister, Kitty and met John Schramm. They were married on July, 23rd, 1966. The young couple settled first in Bloomfield, CT and later settled in Westport, CT.

Embracing community and volunteerism, Patrice dove into many local organizations. A long time member of Assumption parish, volunteer for the American Cancer Society, the Westport Young Woman’s League, the Levitt Pavilion, and Homes with Hope; Patrice spent countless hours giving of her time and energy. During her years of involvement with the Levitt Pavilion in Westport, she led multiple benefit concerts featuring such celebrities as Cab Calaway, Ray Charles and Tony Bennett. She served on the board of directors for Homes with Hope, securing emergency housing for homeless individuals and families. In 2019, Powell Place, part of the Homes with Hope collection of shelters, was dedicated to Patrice and her long time real estate partner and dear friend, Cheryl Eldh. In business, Patrice loved negotiating the perfect deal for her clients, and her passion for excellence earned her numerous awards from Prudential Realty. She retired from a 30-year career in real estate in 2018 and moved to Virginia to live near her adult children and grandchildren.

Ever the elegant hostess, Patrice loved to put on a memorable occasion! Her spirited style was always evident at large charity events she helped organize, Super Bowl extravaganzas, intimate dinner affairs and even simple potlucks. If ever there was a reason to get people together for fun, Patrice enabled good times. Patrice was an excellent singer often bursting into song; she loved all facets of Westport, enjoyed her dogs and was a dedicated Catholic. Her marriage of 42 years to John Schramm was the center of her life.

She was the life of the party, always bearing a joyful smile, relating humorous stories and offering plenty of good food & drink. Her family and friends will deeply miss her caring, thoughtful and steadfast love.

She is survived by her adult children Mark Schramm and Meg Schramm-Rinard, her grandchildren; James and Gwen Rinard, her sister Valorie Schretter and her long time community of colleagues and friends.
