Olivia A. McDonald, a Norwalk resident for over fifty years, passed away on Monday, April 28th, 2008 in Honey Hill Care Center, Norwalk, surrounded by her family and a very special friend, after a lengthy illness. She was 82. Born in White Plains, NY on December 20, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Urbano and Lucy (Pinto) Aletti. She was educated in New York, and graduated from Harrison High School, in Harrison, New York. She settled in Norwalk in 1958 with her husband of fifty years, the late Patrick McDonald. Olivia worked for Richard's Pharmacy in Norwalk for nineteen years then later became a home care provider for a private estate in Darien, until her retirement. She enjoyed decorating her home, cooking, and entertaining. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all and will be missed very much. She had a special talent to make the people in her life feel special, just to know her. Olivia was also a member of St. Anne's Women's Auxiliary of Norwalk. She is survived by two sons, Patrick and his wife, Mary (O'Neill) McDonald of Naugatuck and David McDonald of Norwalk; two daughters, Lucy McDonald of Norwalk and Jan McDaniel of Trumbull; six grandchildren, Patrick, Brian and Joseph McDonald, Jennifer Smart and Lauren and Thomas McDaniel; a great-grandson, Anthony Joseph Velez; three sisters, Muriel Riis of Redding, CA, Eleanor Kline and Lucille Porto, both of Harrison, NY; many nieces and nephews and friends. Olivia's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, May 2, 2008 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory (Raymond Community Funeral Home), 5 East Wall Street (203.847.7291) from 8:30AM to 9:30AM. Her funeral will be held from the funeral parlor at 9:30AM, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Matthew's R.C. Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM. The Rev. Tomi Thomas will officiate. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Norwalk. Flowers may be sent, or contributions in her memory may be made to St. Matthew's Church.
