NICHOLS- Norma A. Nichols, widow of Robert B. Nichols, died on September 8, 2012. She was born on July 10, 1926 to the late Esther and Merton B. Abbott. She graduated from Norwalk High School in 1943 and from Pfeiffer Junior College in 1945. She was employed for many years at Leading National Advertisers in Norwalk and in later years by the Darien Sport Shop. She is survived by her son, Gregg Byxbee of New Port Richey, Florida, her daughters, Susan Byxbee of Carpinteria , California and Ellen Wood of New Milford, Connecticut; two stepsons, Robert Nichols of Burlington, Vermont and Paul Nichols of Plainfield, Vermont; three grandchildren, Kevin, Melissa and Shannon Wood and a great grandson, Riley Linnell; and several nieces and nephews. She was pre deceased by her two sisters, Shirley Murdoch and Cecile McGovern; stepdaughter Lois Foucher, grandson Christopher Wood, and her former husband Morris F. Byxbee, Jr. At her request, there will be no calling hours and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung association at 45 Ash Street East Hartford, CT 06108-3272. Norwalk's Hoyt- Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street has been entrusted with the arrangements.
