NORWALK, CONN Muriel Noble Skinner, age 89, died peacefully on February 23, 2011, after a lengthy illness. She was born November 25, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Alexander Noble and Eleanor McBride. Muriel is pre-deceased by her son Joseph Joshua Skinner, Jr. and by her brother Al Noble of Bayshore, NY. Muriel was married to Joseph Skinner in 1943. While raising their three children, she also focused on her passion for animals. As well as owning her own kennel, she enjoyed raising and training purebred dogs. After divorcing in 1964, she moved to Kifissia, Greece and lived there for more than a decade. Inspired by the natural beauty and culture of Greece, she began to explore the creative arts and writing. She enjoyed sculpture as well as sketching portraits and caricatures. Muriel spent most of her later years in Ardmore, PA, where reconnected with many lifelong friends and lived independently. Muriel moved to Norwalk, CT in 2006 to be closer to her son Robert. Although challenged by Alzheimer's disease, she maintained the best quality of life possible with the support from her family and the staff at Paradigm Health Care Center. Muriel is survived by many loved-ones, including her son Robert Skinner and daughter-in-law, Marian Skinner, of New Haven, CT as well as her sister, Jane Noble of Florida. She also leaves behind her nephew Chris Noble, his wife Maureen and their two children. Honoring her wishes, all services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street is honored to assist the Skinner family with the arrangements.
