Miriam P. Flanagan age 96, of Wilton, CT., passed away on Wednesday, February 7, at Autumn Lake Nursing Home in Norwalk, CT. Miriam was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on September 19, 1921 and was a daughter of the late Thomas and Cecelia Lynch. She worked for many years at Western Electric in Kearny, N.J. before retiring to raise three children in Paramus, New Jersey with her husband of 54 years, Raymond J. Flanagan, Sr.
Miriam lived in Paramus, N.J. before retiring to Holiday City West section of Berkley Township, N.J. She was regularly involved in line dancing and ceramics at Holiday City. Miriam was quite generous with her time and was a regular volunteer for over 20 years at Community Medical Center in Berkley Township, N.J. Within the last 10 years, Miriam moved to Wilton, CT. to be closer to her family.
Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. Flanagan Sr, six brothers and three sisters. Miriam leaves behind one; surviving sister, Dolores Haring of Staten Island, NY. Also surving , a son, Raymond J. of Northampton, Pa; two daughters, Patricia McManus of Bethel, CT. and Mary Beth Dambra of Montebello, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Kelly McManus-Sullivan, Timothy McManus, Tara Flanagan and Christine, Craig and Lauren Dambra. Miriam is also survived by 4 great grandchildren Sean, William, Kaitlyn and Kerry Sullivan.
A Memorial Mass was held on Saturday, February 10 at Lady of Fatima Church, Wilton, CT. Burial was at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, N.J.
