Mary Staffieri Milano
Mary Staffieri Milano, a long time of Stamford and more recently Norwalk, passed away on January 9, 2017. Mary, age 92, is predeceased by her husband Joseph ("Sonny") of almost 50 years, and two brothers, Orlando and Anthony Staffieri. She was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Rosaria Staffieri of Ansonia, CT.
Mary graduated from trade school as a seamstress. She and her husband Joseph, owned a ballroom dance studio where they taught school-aged children as well as adults. Many of the students entered into contests held in CT, NY and FL. She then went on to work for Bloomingdales for 20 years, where she later retired.
For Mary, family was the most important thing in her life. She was a devoted loving mother, daughter and wife. She once was a winning contestant on the Price is Right when it was in NY. Mary was a lover of animals, even taking in abandoned baby animals.
Mary is survived by two daughters: Maureen DeNunzio & her husband Bruce of Norwalk, and Cindy Guarnieri & her husband Tony of Stamford. She is also survived by her brother Joseph Staffieri of Orange, CT. She leaves behind five grandchildren: Anthony, Christine & Laura Guarnieri of Stamford, and Andre & Ilya DeNunzio of Norwalk, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, and her dear devoted friend, Rose Maker.
Calling hours will be held January 12, from 10:30 to 12:30 at Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home at 5 E. Wall Street, Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 PM in St. Matthew Church at 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk. Burial will be at Queen of Peace in Stamford.
