“Mother Mary”
Mary T. Gerloff age 88 a resident of Norwalk for 58 years, died September 28th, 2017 in Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Mary was born October 8th, 1928 in Yonkers New York to the late Harry and Bessie Turchick. Mary Gerloff held several jobs in the Norwalk Area; she was a Travel Agent with Traveling Inc. and at Show bus Tours. She also worked for City Hall for a number of years doing Voter Registration and during Elections at the Polls.
Mary also belong to numerous Charitable Organizations. Mary enjoyed being a member of the Young Republicans; Republican Women’s Club, Evening Women’s Club Inc., Norwalk Women’s Club, AARP #3929, Norwalk Garden Club and Norwalk Senior Center. One of Mary’s Favorite Charitable Fund Raiser was the Evening Women’s Club of Norwalk’s “Heart Fund Ball” This event was very near and dear to her heart for 42 years. The Ball would raise Funds for various items needed in the Cardiac Section of Norwalk Hospital and other Special Needs of the Community.
Mary was also a member of the Sons of Italy, were she would attend the monthly “Ladies Night” were she would put several tables together for a night filled with good food and lots of laughs.
Mary was also a member of several Country Clubs were she was an avid Tennis Player; Shore & Country Club and Shorehaven. Mary was a member of St. Paul’s Parish for 58 years were she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Choir Guild.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 65 years Walter Gerloff, one daughter Paula Roberts and predeceased by her son Mark Gerloff and son in law Gary Roberts. Survivors include her two sisters Martha Yeager and Olga Isroe, two God-daughters Larissa Turchick and son Justin, Corinne Mancuso and Husband Nick, and one God Son Thomas Isroe. Nieces Daria Beuto and husband John, Karyn Isroe and nephews Kevin Yeager and his wife Loraine, and Gregory Turchick.
