Mary Elizabeth Cafini

Mary Elizabeth Cafini, 82, passed on September 19, 2023,  in Norwalk, Conn., surrounded by family.  Mary Elizabeth was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina.  Mary Elizabeth graduated from Stedman High School in Fayetteville.  She began working as a telephone operator, and eventually retired from Verizon as a Central Office Technician in Northern Virginia.  She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers volunteer clown troupe  — performing as “Buttercup” — that brought laughter and delight to children in hospitals and nursing home residents.  Throughout her life, she was a prolific crafter, in crochet, embroidery and sewing.

Mary Elizabeth was the daughter of James and Spicie Davis. She is predeceased by her parents and brother Ronald Davis.  She is survived by five brothers and sisters: Bobby, Frances, Linda, Brenda, and Harvey as well as her children, Regenia, Adam, David, Barbara Ann and Mary Jane, and 13 grandchildren.

She will be interred at Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, NC. Her family will notify loved ones and friends when details are available. Her family is grateful for the aides and hospice team who provided such loving, expert care at the end of her life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory to the Danbury Regional Hospice in Danbury, Conn., 30 Milestone Rd, Danbury, CT, 06810.
