Marshall K. Davidson

July 14, 1938 — December 12, 2024

Marshall K Davidson, 86, beloved father, friend and ex-husband, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Norwalk, CT on Wednesday December 12, 2024.  Born July 14, 1938 in Hartford CT, he was the son of the late Herman and Millicent Davidson.  He is survived by his immediate family - his devoted daughter Laura Davidson and ex-wife Alice Davidson both who live in the surrounding area, and his sister Roanne Robbins and her daughter Elissa Robbins.

Marshall was an extremely intelligent, courageous, independent and proud man, with an entrepreneurial spirit right from the start.  He also made time to support his country and joined the US Army in 1956 and served as a Private First Class and MP through 1958, and then on standby, and honorably discharged in 1962.  Once back in civilian life, Marshall began working in the retail credit industry, followed by buying and managerial positions in major retail clothing goods companies in Southern Connecticut.  He then followed his love of the stock market by learning from the ground up and became a stock broker for many years in NYC and Connecticut.  In his later years of working, Marshall and his daughter Laura opened a gourmet coffee shop, The Java Bean, in White Plains NY that they owned for 15 years.

Marshall had many interests throughout his life, many which he shared with his daughter and ex-wife – his deep love of athletics, sports especially basketball, baseball, and tennis taking drives and flights to sightsee and visit adventure parks in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida.

Marshall lived the later 19 years of his life in a senior apartment in Norwalk, where he was well-liked by both residents, office staff and guards, and made some great friends.  He had an outgoing personality and enjoyed sitting outside to talk to other residents.  He could easily talk to anyone about anything – his favorite topics were sports, history, current events, stock market, food, music, movies, animals, and the weather.

Marshall and his daughter had a truly special relationship, one of strong mutual support.  Marshall, himself a very disciplined person in sports and business, became a driving force for Laura’s self-discipline in these areas.  He enjoyed running and was an avid UConn basketball fan (Laura was an alumni) and they would watch many games together over the phone – he especially loved the Women’s team and coach Geno Auriemma. The year 2004 that both UConn Men and Women won the NCAA basketball playoffs was a true highlight of his life!  Marshall also loved watching every Boston Celtics basketball game and would talk often of his favorite famous player Larry Bird.  And being from Hartford CT and loving baseball, he also enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox games.

Marshall and Laura loved to go driving in the car listening to music and would take trips weekly to eat and regularly to Foxwoods casino where Marshall loved to play the slot machines for fun, and Laura loved to exercise and go shopping, and then both would enjoy a good meal and a show.  In addition, Marshall and Laura spoke many times a day on the phone, from checking in to talking about current events to sharing good scenes from watching a great movie or series such as Yellowstone, and planning for the future. Marshall was an avid watcher of business news, sports, and movies on TV. He loved to share something meaningful with Laura every day, whether it was a word of advice or an impactful current event.

Marshall will be very deeply missed.  In recognition of Marshall’s service as a US Veteran, he will be interred with military honors at Veterans Cemetery Middletown CT on January 11, 2025.
