Marion Bates

Marion A. Bates, age 91, of Norwalk, passed away on May 14, 2018 at Westport Rehabilitation Center. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Major John W. Bates, parents Frank and Margaret Hoyt, brothers; Frank, Wesley and Horace Hoyt and sisters; Ruth Goggins and Margaret Bardos.

She is survived by her devoted children, Cheryl Carmen and Garry (Joyce) Bates; grandchildren, Rich Mackin, Kristi (Dominick) Galletti, Garry D. (Natalia) Bates, Kassandra Bates and John M. Bates and his fiancé Jenna; great grandchildren, Zara, Jadon, Avery, Gavin and Lydia; Step-grandchildren, Kylie, Kaylee and Brady.

Marion was a lifelong resident of East Norwalk and spent much time at a vacation home in Cape Cod for many years. She loved the ocean, gardening and knitting beautiful things for her loved ones. Marion had been an active member of the Neptune Boat Club and belonged to East Avenue United Methodist Church. She will be sorely missed by her loving family. A memorial service will be announced at a future date.
