Mr. Mario Cupo Mario Cupo age 81 of Darien, passed away peacefully March 3, 2013 surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was born on April 3, 1931 in Selvacava, Italy and was a son of the late Luigi and Maria Indovinato Cupo. Mr. Cupo immigrated to the U.S. in 1956 and settled in New York City. He met his loving wife Maria Buzzeo of Stamford to whom he was married to for 54 years. They later moved their family to Darien. He began a 32 year career with Pitney Bowes while also working at the Ferguson Library. Mario was an avid gardener and animal lover. He was very handy and could fix anything. He enjoyed watching soccer, playing cards and being outdoors but most of all loved spending time with his family. Mario's daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren could not have been blessed with a better father and grandfather. He will be remembered by all as a gentle and quiet man with a kind and generous heart. Survivors include his beloved wife Maria Cupo; two loving daughters and their husbands, Mary Grace & Kenneth Palmer of Trumbull and LuAnn & Josh Levine of Norwalk; five grandchildren, Kenneth, Michael, Robert & Mark Palmer and Katie Levine; two sisters, Anna Graniero & Antonietta Palombo of Italy and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to greet the family on Wednesday March 6, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday March 7, 2013, 10:30 am in St. Thomas More Church, 374 Middlesex Rd. Darien. Entombment will follow in St. John's Mausoleum, Norwalk. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Staff at the Bennett Cancer Center and the third floor nurses at Stamford Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Bennett Cancer Center or St. Jude Hospital for Children.
