Marina Athanasoulis, 83, of Norwalk, CT passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on May 11, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late Dimitrios Athanasoulis. Marina was born in Kefalonia, Greece on October 15, 1938, the daughter of the late Spiros and Sophia Sourvanos.Marina was the most loving and giving person who wanted everyone to feel at home in her presence. All who had the good fortune to know Marina instantly knew a love that made you feel like part of the family. When she saw you, a joy lit up her face that was a reflection of the endless love in her heart and soul. She was known around town for her famous koulourakia. She always made sure everyone was well fed when they entered her home, and you had food to take home to your family when you left. In addition to spending cherished time with family and friends, Marina enjoyed attending mass at St. George Greek Orthodox Church; visiting family and friends in Cephalonia, Greece; and watching her favorite actor Xanthopoulo.
Marina built a wonderful home for her family. In addition, she was a talented seamstress. She retired from Dooney & Burke in 2006 again to selflessly care for family - her beautiful grandchildren whom she loved so much. She will be greatly missed by all.
Marina is survived by her children Ria Athanasoulis of Norwalk, CT and Sophia (Anibal) Aponte of Norwalk, CT and grandchildren Emma, Jimmy, and Jared. Marina is also survived by her three siblings, Tatiani, Dennis (Argiro) and Era; cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Emilio and Christos.
