NORWALK, CONN Marie Bitondo of Norwalk passed away Tuesday, February 09, 2010 in Arizona. She was 86. Her beloved husband Nunzio "Ray" Bitondo, of fifty-one years and a well known mason, passed away in 1994. Born in the Bronx on July 19, 1923, Marie was the daughter of the late Charles and Ella Coppola. Marie and Ray relocated to Norwalk in 1971. Together, they enjoyed ballroom dancing. Marie had a passion for music and was an avid piano player. She enjoyed the company of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all. She is survived by her son, Gregory Sr. and his wife, Doris Bitondo of Norwalk; her daughter, Camille and her husband Gene Ercolano of Phoenix, AZ; her brother, Frank Coppola of Yonkers, NY; her sister, Evelyn Cervini of South Carolina; three grandchildren, Gregory Jr., Christie and Nicholas; two great-grandchildren, Samaira and Madelyn and many nieces and nephews. Marie's family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, February 14, 2010 in Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street from 1:00PM - 4:00PM. Her funeral will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, February 15, 2010 from the parlor, when the funeral cortege will proceed to St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, 203 East Avenue, Norwalk, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM. Entombment will follow in Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport.
