Maria Raquel Bucheli Salas of Wilton, age 93, entered eternal rest, in her sleep on Sunday, February 6, 2022. Daughter of the late Victor Manuel Bucheli and Zoila Rosa Parreño Bucheli. She was born on June 8, 1928, in Quito, Ecuador, S. A.
She worked at Bunker Ramo Corporation in Trumbull, and finally retiring from Norden’s Northrup Grumman in Norwalk after 45 years. She was a faithful member of Holy Rosary Church in Bridgeport, prayer and mass attendance was a consistent part of Maria's life, always “blessing” those around her. She also volunteered her time generously for many years in Bridgeport’s Latino community. She enjoyed celebrating family events, beading rosaries and was known to have a competitive nature playing a fierce game of volley and dodge ball. Her nieces, nephews & grandchildren can attest to that.
Maria married, Juan Enrique Salas, who predeceased her in 2010, after they immigrated from Ecuador to the US in the late 50’s. Together they raised their three children.
She leaves three generations of devoted children: Victor Eduardo Salas, and his wife Evelyn of Bridgeport. Conzuelo Genoveva Salas of Norwalk and Dolores Soledad Marianna Salas of North Augusta, South Carolina. Her grandchildren, Evelyn Grace Salas, Emely Ann Salas and Genevieve Maria Salas-Cronin and two great grandsons: Mason Riley Salas and Noah Anthony Coutinho.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three sisters in Quito, Ecuador, Laura Cecilia, Dolores Margarita and Juana Mercedes and a brother, Victor Manuel Bucheli of Stamford, CT. She also leaves a dear sister-in-law, Benigna Avila and her children, Victor, David, George (deceased), John, Zoila, & Marianne Bucheli.
A celebration in memory of her life will take place Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph - St. Ladislaus Church, 85 S. Main Street, South Norwalk, CT. Entombment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may donate, in honor of Maria’s memory to:
