NORWALK, CONN Maria D. Ortiz of Norwalk passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011 in St. Vincent Hospital, Bridgeport. She was 88. Her beloved husband of sixty-six years, Pedro Ortiz passed away in January. Born in Puerto Rico on May 27, 1923, Maria was the daughter of the late Asuncion and Carmen (Gonzalez) Gonzalez and attended local schools. She worked as an assembler for the former Swank Crestline Co. of Norwalk for over thirty years. She is survived by four sons, Angel Ortiz of New Fairfield, Conn, Miguel and Pedro J. Ortiz, both of Norwalk and Hector Ortiz of Delaware; one daughter, Doris Ortiz-Gonzalez of Hamden, Conn; nearly 20 grandchildren and nearly 20 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating Maria's life will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, July 28, 2011, directly at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 85 South Main Street, South Norwalk. The Rev. G. Frantz Desruisseaux will officiate. You may start arriving after 9:30AM. Interment will be held at 1:00PM in the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown. Honoring the wishes of the family, there will be no calling hours. Please omit flowers. Memorial Contributions may be made directly to St. Joseph Church. Norwalk's Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 5 East Wall Street is honored to assist the Ortiz family with the arrangements.
