Margie Banzet Miller

Margie Banzet Miller peacefully passed at home on June 12, 2017 at age 101 ½ .  Her beloved husband Harlan pre-deceased her in 1971.  She is survived by: daughter Donna Stone, granddaughter Laura Wachal, great grandson Vietel Krauss; son Gary Miller and wife Rietta, grandson Adam Miller and wife Rachel, great granddaughters Leila, Alexa and Marcia; grandson Jeremy Miller and wife Heather, great grandson Austin, great granddaughters Genesis and Ella; many loving nieces and nephews.

Born on a farm in Edna, Kansas December 28, 1915, Margie was the 6th of 7 children whose parents emigrated from Alsace-Lorraine, France.  In order to attend high school, Margie left home at age 13, and then went on to achieve a BA in teaching from Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburgh, KS, where she met her future husband, Harlan Miller.

Margie and Harlan moved to Norwalk in 1964 and became active members of the United Church of Rowayton.  They enjoyed traveling throughout North America, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. For 30 years she made hundreds of craft items for the residents of two Norwalk nursing homes.

Margie was a pioneer in believing in homeopathic and naturalistic self-care.  She endlessly researched ways to better her and her family’s health and well-being.

She loved nature and being outdoors, gardening organically provide a safe refuge for all living creatures.  As a result, an environmental organization awarded her a certificate of appreciation.

Margie Miller will be forever missed by her loving family and friends.  A special appreciation to her devoted caregiver, Denise Napier.

There will be no calling hours.  A memorial service to celebrate Margie’s life will be held at the United Church of Rowayton at a later date. For information on that date and to leave an online condolence please go to www.norwalkfh.com
