ROWAYTON, CONN Margaret C. Robinson, a 64-year resident of Rowayton, passed away on Wednesday, April 27th, 2011, at the age of 97. Her husband, Samuel J. Robinson, Jr., predeceased her in 1961. Born in Bloomfield, NJ, in 1913, Marge was a graduate of Bloomfield High School and Essex County Technical School. She worked as a dental assistant and later as a bookkeeper for Stop and Shop. She served twenty years as District Clerk for the 6th Taxing District. Marge was the recipient of the 6th Taxing District's 2009 Award of Merit for her dedicated service as Clerk and community volunteer. After her husband's passing, she served as an Adult Probation Volunteer for the Connecticut State Judicial Court for 15 years. She also volunteered for many years as an English as a Second Language literacy instructor in Norwalk, a teachers' aide at the Rowayton School, and a nurses' aide at the Norwalk Hospital. Marge was a charter member of the United Church of Rowayton as was her late husband who was a member of the Board of Deacons. Marge was a long-time member of the Norwalk Woman's Club and an avid bridge player. She was an extensive world traveler with adventures throughout the continental US, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Central and South America, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, and the North Sea. Marge met her husband, Sam, on Rowayton Beach in 1929, and they were married in 1934. He was a graduate of New York University. He was elected City Councilman in Norwalk and served as a respected civic leader for many years in Ward E. Marge is survived by a son, Terrence, and his wife Suzanne, of St. Thomas, VI, and a daughter, Susan, and her husband, Braxton, of Fayetteville, AR. Two sons, Barry and Donald, predeceased her. She is also survived by four loving grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many friends. Marge's wit, caring, wisdom and love have touched all who knew and loved her. A celebration of life and memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11:00AM in the United Church of Rowayton, 210 Rowayton Avenue, Rowayton. A reception is to follow.
