Margaret Susan Carney

Margaret Susan Carney (Peggy to all her family and many friends) passed away quietly and peacefully on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at her home at Kagey House in Westport, CT, surrounded by family, her housemates, and caregivers.  She was 50 years old. Peggy is survived by her siblings and their families: Patrick and Janey Carney and their children, Hope, Keith, and Michael; Timothy and Donna Carney and their children, Dan, Michael, and Patricia; and Kathleen Carney and her son, Devin Kirby; and all her great nieces and nephews. Peggy was born in Stamford, CT on April 3, 1968 to Joseph and Barbara Carney, both now deceased, and grew up in Durham, CT. She attended Durham schools and graduated from Guilford High School. She lived in several group homes, finally moving to Kagey House in Westport in May of 2011. Peggy was a feisty, curious, and charming woman who became a Special Olympian, an excellent swimmer (she loved the ocean), a Sesame Street fan, a grilled cheese connoisseur, and a loving companion for her family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 10:00 am at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk, CT. The Hoyt-Cognetta Funeral Home, 5 East Wall Street in Historic Norwalk has been entrusted with arrangements.
